LambdaMOO

LambdaMOO

One of the famous members of the Tiny social family of MUDs. Lambda was the successor to MOO, made by Pavel Curtis while working at XEROX. This version basically replaced MOO, and virtually any MOO server operating since the 90s uses LamdbaMOO or a derivative thereof.

LambdaMOO was originally a MOO server that Lambda (aka Haakon, aka Pavel Curtis) was running, modifying, and enhancing.

Eventually LambdaMOO was publicly released on February 5th 1991 and had steady development until 2000 with the last major release. Though some development still continues behind the scenes to this day.

New servers continue to crop up, as do forks and derivatives. MOO is quite likely the most intensely developed and active member of the Tiny derivatives.
